ARRIVALS

FRANCE, 2019

"I WANTED TO DO A TRIBUTE  TO PEOPLE WHO ARRIVE TO MY LIFE "

"IT WILL SNOW IN SPRING, IT RAINNED IN THE DESSERT.... IT FLEW AWAY, FAR AWAY. IT ARRIVED.

IT WILL STOP AND FIND ME.

IT WILL FLY BEFORE IT ALL STARTS..."

THE POETRY WHICH SERGIO CANAEDO INVITES YOU TO BE PART OF, IS THE ONE WHERE STORKS ARE THE MAIN CHARACHTERS.

THEIR FLIGHTS THEIR MIGRATIONS AND THEIR MOVEMENTS HAVE INSPIRED HIM TO CREATE THESE SERIE OF PHOTOS CALLED "ARRIVALS".

HOW COULD A STORK BE LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AMAZON FOREST, SURROUNDED BY TROPICAL PLANTS AND FAR FROM ITS NATURAL ENVIRONMENT?

IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE THAT THESE ENCOUNTERS COULD TAK PLACE IN NATURE?

HOW FAR DID THEY HAVE TO GO?

HOW FAST DID THEY GET HERE?

COULD SEVERAL STORKS ARRIVE TO THE BORDER OF A RIVER AND WAIT, AND CONTEMPLATE THE SURROUNDIND... AND JUST WAIT?

ARE THEY WAITING FOR SPRING, FOR THE WIND, OR FOR THEIR LOVE OF THEIR LIFE'S?

THESE HYPOTHETICAL STORK TRIPS ARE THE METAPHORES THAT SERGIO CANEDO USES FOR "ARRIVALS". PICTURES WHERE THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES REAL AND WHERE THE UNESPECTED HAPPENS.

"JUST LIKE THAT, AS A LOST STORK, THE MOMENT YOU EXPECT THE LEAST, AND JUST THERE., WHERE YOU WOULD NOT IMAGINE IT WOULD HAPPEN, YOU COULD FIND THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE"

ARRIVALS IS A TRIBUTE THAT THE PHOTOGRAPHER DOES TO THE PEOPLE THAT HE MET IN HIS LIFE; TO THOSE WHOM HE HAS LOVED, AND TO THE ONES HE LOVES... TO THE ONES HE WILL LOVE.

"FOR THE ONES WHO HAVE ARRIVED, STAYED AND GONE . FOR THE ONES THAT I WOULD NEVER SEE AGAIN... TO THE BEAUTY OF THE MOMENT WHERE A STORK COULD GET LOST,"
